These conical fids are manufactured in the traditional style of the centuries-old hardwood fid. They are used to work with Natural and Synthetic 3, 4 and 8 Stranded Ropes. A fid is mainly used to separate the strands of synthetic or natural rope for splicing and can also be used in undoing or tying intricate rope work and knots.
